Meet The Family

Alun Evans: Founder of Elite Diving. From Maesteg. South Wales. UK.
Alun started diving in 1984 and had been diving for 18 years in the UK before moving to Sharm to work in the diving industry. Alun completed his first instructor course in 1988 and first came to Sharm with his wife Moyra and their dive club on a diving holiday in 1993
He is still seen diving from The Elite Boat in Sharm, but just for fun these days.
Mostly works behind the scenes on marketing and as a general dog's body!

Moyra Evans: AKA "The Real Boss". From Maesteg. South Wales. UK.
Moyra started diving in 1988, learning to dive in the UK. She dived alongside Alun and their BSAC branch. Moyra now manages the dive centre's accounting and also steps in to cover general administration during holidays and days off.

Gwyn Evans: AKA G. Eldest son of Alun & Moyra. From Maesteg, South Wales UK.
In 1997 G learnt to dive, also with the local BSAC Branch. G completed his PADI Divemaster with Ocean College in Sharm during his Summer break from University back in 2003. After years of helping out with Elite while on holiday in Sharm, he joined Alun & Moyra permanently in 2014 to work full-time in Sharm, and is now the Dive center manager, and runs the diving team.

Meet the Office Team

Angie: Office manager is from Portsmouth UK.
Angie is most people's first contact with Elite, as she often works on answering emails.
Angie started working with Elite in January 2015 and has become part of the Elite Diving extended family.

Cicco: Logistics Clerk is from Rome in Italy.
Cicco is responsible for our daily paperwork that puts names on the boat or the beach. It sounds a simple job, but her attention to detail makes sure our divers end up where they are supposed to be, along with their equipment. If not, it could ruin people's day while they are on holiday. This is why it's such an important job.

Hossam (Hoss): Dive Instructor and Technical Manager. Moved to Sharm with his parents from Cairo when he was four years old, so went to school in Sharm and grew up here.
Hossam is the longest-serving member of the Dive Team. He first worked for Elite in 2011. After a year or two experiencing other aspects of the diving Industry, is now back where he feels most at home. With Elite Diving.

Amr : Dive Instructor and Staff Instructor. From Port Said, North Egypt.
Amr has worked for several dive centres here in Sharm and Marsa Alam, gaining vast experience over the last twenty years. He has been working with Elite since 2021 and finds it very similar to when he worked (as did Alun & Moyra) with Ocean College, another British-based dive center in Sharm that unfortunately closed down in March 2020.
Amr maintains making 3D dive site models for his dive briefings out of towels and bags, as he and Alun learned to do when working with Ocean College.

Jenny: Our Newest Dive Instructor. Jenny is from Bournemouth, England.
Jenny has been a regular diver with Elite since 2016. In 2023 Jenny was looking for a new direction in life, so we offered her a job as an instructor. Her answer was "I'm not even a rescue diver". She was told that we could teach her everything she needed to know to become an instructor, but what we couldn't teach her was the right attitude and personality; she possessed an abundance of that already. You should have seen the big smile on her face.
She has been the model student in studying hard and learning from our experienced instructors. She qualified as a PADI Instructor in February 2025. Her PADI Head Office examiner complimented her on her perfect scores during the gruelling PADI Instructor exam over two days.

Sayed: Instructor. From Cairo. Sayed has been working with Elite on and off since January 2024. After demonstrating his thoroughness in teaching dive courses and consistently maintaining high standards with qualified and experienced divers, he is now a permanent freelance Instructor with us.

Angy Ambrosi: Instructor. From The Veneto Region of Italy. Often called "The Mermaid" due to her elegant style in the water, and doesn't breathe much air either.
Angy has been teaching diving since 1996 and is a seasonal member of our dive team.

The Boat Crew

Captain Yahia. The very experienced Captain of The Elite Boat. From Suez City.
Yahia and Alun worked together first back in 2002 when Alun first came to work in Sharm, and Yahia was the Captain of New Age, a boat that was contracted to Ocean College when Alun worked there. Yahia was always Alun's favorite captain for many reasons.
Just before Elite bought our own boat, Yahia decided to work back in his hometown near the Suez Canal. Alun approached Yahia to captain our boat, and he jumped at the opportunity. He has now been back in Sharm as a highly valued member of our team, captaining the Elite Boat since 2016.

Ezat: Boat Chef. From Kafr Sheikh. The second most important person on the boat. Some say he is the most important, as he is the main Chef.
Ezat serves up different culinary delights every day on the boat for lunch. Many people say it's better food than they get in their hotels. It's all freshly made on board on the day. The sponge cake he makes for snacks after the first dive is delicious.
Ezat can also be seen on the back deck helping the deckhand retrieve the divers back on board.

Nader: Deckhand. From Kafr Sheikh in the Nile Delta. He has worked as a deckhand since 2015. Most of our divers comment on how helpful he is when they kit up and de-kit. They also mention his big, friendly smile. He never stops working when he's on the boat. If he's not helping the divers, he is washing the boat down and keeping it in tip top condition.

Marwan: Deckhand and relief Chef. From Suez City. When Ezat is on holiday, Marwan takes over the chef's duties.
You have to try Marwan's mashed potato with onion dish.
Marwan is such a happy personality, you just have to say hello to him and he starts chuckling, which is quite infectious. He's another who is always there to help divers.

Ground Crew

Yousry: Licensing and Logistics Manager. From Aswan.
Yousry started work with us in November 2014. He completed a law degree at University, so is qualified to be in charge of all our official licences and keeps the dive centre legal and operational by renewing annual licences, work permits, social insurance, boat licence, all while supervising the ground crew.

Mahmoud: From Near Luxor, Mahmoud is responsible for filling the dive cylinders with air or nitrox, and on busy periods can still fill cylinders until midnight. He's also responsible for washing the dive centre equipment after it's been used, and moving it from the dive center to our boat or beach and back. Mahmoud also enjoys coming on the boat now and again just to fun dive and hopes to complete his rescue diver by the end of 2025.

Ayman. Ground assistant. From Near Luxor. Responsible for assisting Mahmoud with daily routines. You'll often see Aymen at the start and end of the day, loading dive cylinders and equipment on and off the boat.
